Bangus Belly Bistek

Ingredients:

  • 500g Fishta Bangus Belly
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup calamansi juice (or lemon juice)
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 large onions, sliced into rings
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional, for balance)
  • ¼ cup cooking oil
  • 1 tbsp butter (for extra flavor)
  • Salt to taste
  • Chopped spring onions or parsley (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Marinate bangus belly in soy sauce, calamansi, black pepper, and garlic for 15–30 mins.
  2. Fry bangus belly in hot oil until golden brown, then set aside.
  3. Sauté onions in the same pan, reserving some for garnish.
  4. Simmer the marinade with water and sugar for 3 mins. Add butter.
  5. Combine bangus belly with the sauce and cook for 3-5 mins.
  6. Garnish with onions and serve with rice. Enjoy!
